Modesta Polsinelli, nee Rossini

Passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 4, 2024, at the age of 96. Devoted wife of Rinaldo, with whom she is now reunited. Proud mother of Frank (Marie), Peter (Iryna) and Rita (Italo; predeceased). Cherished Nonna of Elio and Wendy, Melissa and Nabil, Adam and Laura, Daniel and Jacqueline, Mark and Nicole and extended family Michelle, Darrin and Somer Lee. Loving Bisnonna to Sophia, Naomi, Yasmine, Lorelai, Nathan, Oliver, Kalia and Layla. Modesta was always fond of her siblings, Antonio, Rosetta, Guilia, Maria, Dante, and dear sister-in-law Franca. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

Born in Isola Liri, Italy to parents Nicola and Angela. Their family moved to France where Modesta learned to speak French. And then back to Italy.

As a young woman, Modesta would see her future husband walking to school. The couple were finally introduced through other family members, and they were married on December 28, 1949, in Italy. They moved to France to start their family and then made their way to Canada for a better life. They worked hard to provide for their family, working at many types of jobs.

Spending time with family was Modesta’s world. Her grandchildren and especially great grandchildren would generate a radiant smile that would gleam throughout their visits.

She also greatly enjoyed time in her garden tending to her vegetables and beautiful flowers or playing Italian cards. Modesta was very sociable striking up conversations with neighbors and friends.

Family and friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home 4671 Hwy 7, Woodbridge on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday April 10, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception 300 Ansley Grove Rd., Woodbridge. Entombment to follow at Beechwood Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Epilepsy Canada would be appreciated.
