With profound sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Mily Doukas (formerly Christakos).
Born in the beautiful village of Anoyia, Sparta, Greece, Mily came to Canada at the young age of 16, carrying with her the courage, determination, and hope of building a better life. It was here that her journey started, and where she met the love of her life, Nicolaos. Together, they shared 68 beautiful years of love and companionship.
Mily was a devoted wife, a loving mother to Jinny (Neff), Pina, and Jimmy, and she cherished her grandchildren Philip, Joseph, Nicholas, Melissa (Sasha), and Stephanie. Her family was her greatest blessing and the center of her world.
She had the most generous heart, always willing to lend a helping hand, offer a listening ear, or share her wisdom and guidance. Her family knew they could always turn to her for comfort, encouragement, and unconditional love. As a woman of deep faith, Mily was devoted to her Greek Orthodox religion. Her faith was an integral part of who she was, carrying it in her teachings, and leading with God by her side.
She found great joy in life’s simple pleasures. An avid baker, and gardener; she loved creating, nurturing, and sharing with those around her. Her home, and kitchen, were places of warmth where the aromas of her baking brought family together, and her garden reflected the care she put into everything she did.
She leaves behind not only treasured memories, but a legacy of love, family traditions, and values that will continue to live on through her children and grandchildren. Our hearts are broken, but we take comfort in knowing that she will remain with us forever.
She will forever be loved, deeply missed, and never forgotten.
