Michael (Zapotochny) Moore

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Moore on July 13, 2025, in his 65th year, following a brief battle with cancer.

Michael was the beloved husband of Sheila and devoted father to Heather (Adam) and James. He was a cherished brother of Robert (Carol), brother-in-law, uncle, friend and colleague to many.

He is predeceased by his parents, Elmer and Margaret (Adamik) Zapotochny.

A dedicated family man, Michael found great joy in time spent with loved ones, especially on the water. He shared his passion for fishing and boating with his children, creating lasting memories during summers in Temagami and the Kawarthas.

Michael had a long and respected career as a Building Inspector, serving the Town of Markham, Borough of Scarborough, City of Toronto, and Town of Oakville. Known for his expertise and integrity, he earned the respect of colleagues, builders and property owners alike.

A Celebration of Life will be held on the afternoon of August 10th from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. at the Alton Mill Art Centre (Millrace Room) located at 1402 Queen Street West in Alton, Ontario. In memory of Mike, family and friends are encouraged to wear an article of clothing that is blue and white if they have one (the colours of his favourite shirts).

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society and the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
