ENGLISH, Michael (Mike) McPherson
June 23, 1955 - April 7, 2014
Michael English passed away unexpectedly at work of a massive heart attack on Monday April 7, 2014 in his 58th year. Michael, otherwise known as “Mike”, was surrounded by a supportive group of co-workers who rushed him to the Woodstock General Hospital until his family arrived.
Mike was a hardworking man both in his personal and professional life. He was born in Georgetown, Guyana and grew up on 3rd street. Back home (in Guyana) Mike was very much a family man, protective of his younger siblings, who remember him as a strict and serious big brother (“father figure”). Once he moved to Canada, Mike continued to provide for his family with an industrious character and determined will, doing various general labour jobs throughout the years. Most recently, Mike was employed at Nova Steel Inc., where he worked as a forklift operator for over 13years.
Mike was a neat and tidy person who liked to have things in order. Home was Mike’s sanctuary, where he would continue to work tirelessly on renovation projects including interior decorating. Mike also enjoyed entertaining family and friends and making everyone feel at home. Anyone who knew Mike saw him as an easy-going, charismatic and lovable soul. Mike loved a good laugh and appreciated the finer things in life, which were reflected in the way that he dressed and maintained his home. In his free time, Mike loved to cook and garden - spending ample time cutting and manicuring his lawn to perfection.
Mike is survived by his only daughter, Michelle Allison; his brothers Allan, Claude and Richard; sisters Ina, Jennifer, Collette and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family. Mike was a doting father and uncle; dedicated brother, cousin and friend to all.
Mike was predeceased by his loving parents, Joanna Caroline and Thomas Augustus, brother, Charles Augustus and dear nephew, Shawn Mc Calla.
Visitation will be Monday, April 14, 2014 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at the Ward Funeral Home, 52 Main Street South, Brampton, ON.
A church service in memory of Mike’s life will be held at 11:00am, Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at Kennedy Road Tabernacle Church, 141 Kennedy Road N. Brampton, ON. A reception will follow in the church’s banquet hall, followed by a burial at Meadowvale Cemetery, 7732 Mavis Road, Brampton.
