Melvyn Fitzgerald Thomas aka (Naville, Sam, Norville or Tomo) died peacefully on January 7, 2024 at the Trillium Hospital in Mississauga, Ontario Canada.

Melvyn was born on November 19, 1943 in the village of Liverpool on the Corentyne coast of Guyana. He was the oldest, and had three younger siblings. He was married to his beloved wife of 53 years Doris and together they raised two children Onyka and the late Jeremane.

In Guyana he worked as a Prison officer from 1968-1983. In 1983 he migrated to Canada where he worked as a supervisor for 23 years.

Melvyn was dedicated to his immediate and extended family. He was an active member of the Parkdale, Bethel and Alness Adventist Church where he participated in the Food bank, Touch of Love and numerous social activities.

Those who knew him well could attest to his humorous personality and love for sports, music, cooking and most of all travelling to is native Guyana during the winter months. He was loved and admired by those close to him and enjoyed deep relationships with many friends and family members throughout the years.

Family and friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home (Brampton Chapel) 52 Main Street South on Sunday January 28, 2024 for 1pm-4pm. The funeral will be held in Guyana at a date to be announced later.
