It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Melina Zavarella (née Filleti), who passed away peacefully on September 22, 2026, just two days before her 81st birthday.

Melina is now reunited with her beloved husband, Marino. She was the devoted mother of Angela, Domenic (Candace), and Marino Jr., and a cherished Nonna to Nicholas, Erica, Marino Peter, and Alessandro.

Melina was born on September 24, 1945, in Colleferro, Lazio, Italy, to her parents, Carmelo Filleti and Angela Filleti (née Cirillo). Tragically, Melina lost her mother, Angela, at a very young age. Her father later married Leonilda (née Silvestri), who became an important part of Melina’s life and helped raise her with love and care.

Melina later made the journey to Canada, where she met her beloved husband, Marino. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised their family.

Melina was a hardworking and dedicated woman who devoted herself wholeheartedly to her family. She helped run the family business and took great pride in caring for her home and those she loved. She found happiness in many activities and pastimes, including cooking and baking for her family, tending to her garden, playing various card games, and enjoying a game of bingo.

Above all, Melina will be remembered for the love and dedication she gave to her family. She will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, extended family, and friends, and lovingly remembered for all the memories they shared together.
