With profound sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Mattia Piazza on November 1, 2026, at the age of 96.
Mattia is now reunited with her beloved husband, Salvatore, whom she dearly missed. She leaves behind her loving son, Joe (Laura), who will forever cherish her memory.
Born to Antonino and Anna, Mattia was raised alongside her beloved siblings, Maria, Antonino, and Marco, with whom she shared a close and enduring bond. She spent her formative years on the family’s almond orchard, olive groves and wheat fields, creating treasured memories with her siblings that remained close to her heart throughout her life.
Encouraged by her brother Marco, Mattia made the courageous decision to leave her family homestead and move to Toronto, Canada, in pursuit of a successful future. Soon after arriving, she met the love of her life, Salvatore. Together they married, welcomed their beloved son, and built a loving family and home filled with happiness, hard work, and cherished memories.
A gifted seamstress by trade, Mattia later in life devoted herself fully to her family and home. She took immense pride in her role as a wife, mother, and homemaker, dedicating her time, care, and unwavering love to those closest to her. Her kindness, strength, and devotion will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Mattia will be lovingly remembered by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched. Her memory will live on forever in the hearts of those who loved her.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mattia's memory to the Alzheimer's Society of Canada.
