Matthew Nicholas Fusaro

With profound sadness and heavy hearts, the family of Matthew Nicholas Fusaro announces his passing on April 15, 2025, at the age of 24, with his loving family by his side.

Born on February 1, 2001, in Toronto, Matthew was the beloved son of Carmine and Rosetta Fusaro. Cherished brother of Fran and Mary-Jo. He will be forever remembered by his grandparents Francesco Fusaro, and Gabriele and Giuseppina Valente. He is now reunited with his loving Nonna, Maria Fusaro.

Matthew was a deeply loved nephew to Biagio Fusaro, Bina Fusaro, Virgilio Stellato, Rosaria Fusaro, Attilio Roseville, Raffaella Valente, and Francisco Theoduloz. Dear cousin to Frank, Mario, Gino, Carmine Fusaro, Antonella, Mirko, Raffaella Stellato, Alessandro and Francesca Roseville, and Olivia Theoduloz. He will be deeply missed by his extended family and many close friends.

Matthew will be remembered for his radiant smile, infectious giggle, and gentle, kind-hearted nature. Known for his shy demeanour, yet full of light, he brought warmth and joy to those around him. His family was his world, and he found happiness in the simplest moments — cooking in the kitchen with his mother or working alongside his father on the farm caring for animals.

In his quiet time, Matthew enjoyed scrapbooking. He was happiest outdoors, retreating into nature, often swimming, hunting or camping in a school bus he proudly converted himself. He also had a passion for sports, especially hockey, soccer, rugby, and baseball.

He shared a special bond with Fran and Mary-Jo, finding joy in playing video games, board games, Italian cards, watching movies, singing, listening to music, and exploring the rhythms of both city and country life. He loved sightseeing around Toronto with his sister and bonding over cars and dirt bikes with his brother.

Matthew was working toward his Fire Sprinkler apprentice Red Seal, contributing to projects across the city. He was recently hired as a supply custodian for SMCDSB and was so proud to start this part time.He dreamed of traveling to Italy this summer and was excited about obtaining his Italian citizenship. More than anything, he dreamed of one day starting a family of his own.

One of Matthew’s favorite places was Grand Bend, Ontario, where he loved to watch the sunsets and simply live in the moment.

Our grief over losing Matthew is immeasurable, but so is the love and light he brought into our lives. His memory will forever remain in our hearts.
