PAGANO, Matteo

January 27, 1926 – February 2, 2011

Died peacefully, at the Wm Osler Health Centre in Etobicoke.
Matteo was a dedicated family man and will be greatly missed by all who loved him. He leaves behind Maria, his devoted wife and soul mate for 64 years, his sons, Vincent and his wife Mary, Michael and his wife Laura, and his daughter, Lucy Ferri. “Nonno” will always be remembered by his grandchildren, Matthew and his wife Gillian, Mark and friend Lara, Lisa and her husband Stuart, Enrico, Marianna, Michael, John Carlo, and Matthew. Great grandchildren Paige, Logan and Rachel already share his passion for good Italian food and afternoon naps.
Matteo and Maria immigrated to Canada in 1954, and both worked very diligently to establish their family in this great country. Matteo was a valuable employee of “GM GEST”, whom he worked for many years, and retired in 1991 to pursue his passions for gardening and renovating. He set an example to everyone who knew him of the rewards of hard work, humanity, and devotion to family.
The Pagano family would like to thank the Wm Osler Health Centre (Etobicoke), for their wonderful care and compassion, during Matteo’s illness, in particular Dr. Aggarwal, nurses Salomey Mensa, Olive Smith, Laura Steeves, and Dorey Coronel.
Friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home, 4671 Hwy 7 (West of Pine Valley Dr.), Woodbridge, 905-851-9100, on Friday, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 5th, 2011at 10:00am at Our Lady of the Airways Parish, 7407 Darcel Ave, Mississauga. Entombment to follow at Glendale Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations, in Matteo’s name, to the Wm Osler Health Centre – Etobicoke Site would be appreciated by the family.
