Mata Gianakopoulos

GIANAKOPOULOS, Stamatiki (nee Tsouvalis) February 28, 1934- It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Stamatiki (Mata) Gianakopoulos on Thursday January 19, 2012. Beloved wife of Vasilios Gianakopoulos of 51 years. Dearly devoted mother to George Gianakopoulos, Anastasia (Yianni) Varlas and Patricia (John) Mantzoris.

Dear grandmother/Yiayia to Victoria and Emily Gianakopoulos, Panayioti, Tina and Panayiota Varlas, Kristin and Kate Mantzoris

Loving and caring sister to Georgia Varlas, Ekaterina Captain, Evangelos Tsouvalis (predeceased) Youannis Tsouvalis (predeceased). Mata will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews, family and friends. We would like to extend our thanks to Dr. Christine Simmons and staff of the 2nd floor Day care unit at St Michael’s Hospital, the Victorian Order of Nurses (VON) and the Community Care Access Service (CCAC) for their kindness and care.

Friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home, 2035 Weston Road, (North of Lawrence Ave. W.) Weston, on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-9 pm. Funeral Service will be held at St. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church (1 Brookhaven Dr.) on Monday at 10:00 am followed by interment at Sanctuary Park. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
