Holley, Mary Armstrong
Mary Armstrong Holley, Age 87, of Pompano Beach, Florida, formerly of Brampton, passed away on January 20, 2011 from complications due to Alzheimer's Disease.
Mary is survived by her two daughters, Debbie of Delray Beach, Florida and Judie of Baiestanne, New Brunswick, son Gerry and his wife Nancy and grandsons Russell and Lucas of Brampton, brother Charlie Armstrong and his wife Lenore, sisters Helen Southgate and Ruth Miller and brother-in-law Bryan Burkart. She is pre deceased by her sister Isabel Burkart.
Mary moved with her late husband, Geoffrey, and family to Florida in 1972. There she was an active member of the Harness Horse Racing Community, carrying on the family tradition started by her late father Elgin Armstrong. She was the recipient of the Delvin Miller Award for "Maintaining Goodwill and Integrity for the Growth of the Harness Racing Industry" in 2001, and was especially proud of her two most successful race horses, Brave Fella and General Mattarthur.
Visitation will be held at the Ward Funeral Home at 52 Main Street South, Brampton, Ontario, on Thursday, January 27, 2011 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm and Friday, January 28, 2011 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Services will be held at 11:00 am in the Ward Funeral Chapel and Burial will immediately follow at Brampton Memorial Gardens.
