Mom joined her soul mate Milford Francis Fenwick of 30 years in a peaceful loving embrace with barely a whisper. Predeceased by her second husband Lloyd James Laidlaw.
Only daughter of John Donald Ismond and Lillian Ismond (nee Laidlaw). She grew up on a country farm close to Ashgrove with four feisty brothers. Donald, Bruce, George and Jim were by the gates in heaven to welcome her home.
Mary and Milford had eight children together, five girls and three boys made their lives a whirlwind of activity and chaos but embraced in love.
Lynda Marie Clark (Ron Montgomery ) (predeceased by Gordon Clark) Frank Wayne Fenwick (Kirsty Lennie)
Deborah Arlene VandenHoek (Martin VandenHoek) Kenneth Milford Fenwick ( Kay Morrison) Karen Elizabeth Peebles (predeceased by Stephen Peebles)
Already waiting for her in heaven are her children Roy Wellington Fenwick (Brenda Osborne), Carol Anne Bragg (Brian Bragg) Katherine Mary and her grandson Jacob VandenHoek.
Mary took on the role of stepmother, grandmother and great grandmother to Lloyds large brood with her eyes wide open and her heart full of love.
Proud and boastful grandmother to Jennifer, Suzanne, Nicole, Lori, Andrew, Megan, Amanda, Pamela, Paul, Aaron, Karlie, Sarah, Melissa, Craig, Jeffrey, Robert, Jacob, Krystal, Katelyn, Adrian, Anthony and Connor.
Not many people have this many people who they can slather with love.
But it didn’t end there when Mary became a great grandmother in her mid seventies. She opened her already expanded heart and arms to Sylvia, Rebecca, Reed, Bren, Kathryn, Arianna, Ben, Leland, Hannah, Serena, Emma, Noah, Ava, Kaleb, Lily, Xavier, Quinn, Oliver, Victor, Frederick, Millie, Frankie, Arlo, Maisie, Annie, Ashley, Cole, Jamie, Jane, Walter, Lucy, Adam, Olive, Alice, Hendrik, Madeline, Sophie, Jensyn, Jayde, Charlotte and Elena.
As this wasn’t enough mom never turned our friends away and in fact made them feel as if they too were born into our family. She’d say” just throw another potato into the pot”.
With such a huge family Mary mastered the art of the perfect pie crust while skillfully adding to our waistlines with her melt in your mouth buns and scalloped potatoes.
As our family quickly expanded, mom devised ways to keep us all close. Grandkids were invited for impromptu parties that were themed but never the same, they each got their turns for sleepovers and private lessons where she imparted her culinary skills.
Family was always her first priority but friends were very important in her life and she nourished many many lifetime connections. Even into her last few years she collected true friendships.
We will miss her every day until she waits at the gate for us to return home. And you better believe she will be at the head of the line as each and every one of us joins her again.
Mary is at rest at Wards Funeral Home in Brampton and we welcome you to join us Sunday December 21st from 2-4, 6-8 for visitation, she will be laid to rest Monday December 22nd at 1pm with internment to follow at Brampton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made in Mary's memory.
