On Saturday March 2, 2024 in her 92nd year, our remarkable matriarch, Mary Daley, left this world. Mary was the last of her generation. She was an orphan from the age of fifteen, and was the last of all her siblings and in-laws. Those losses did not stop Mary from living a life filled with love, while being a beacon of joy and laughter to all who knew her.

She was predeceased by her husband Harold, her daughter Anne, her son Paul, her son-in-law Ken, as well as her siblings and in-laws Anne Walsh, Peggy and Bruce McGuire, Campbell and Marian O’Leary,  Leona and Joe King, Val and Anne Daley,Dick and Gertie Daley and Gerry Daley.

Left to mourn the passing of this remarkable woman are her children , Kay (Ernie), Theresa, Gerry (Toni) , Harold (Chantal), her daughter-in-law Margaret, her  10 grandchildren Claire, Pamela, John, Michael, Darcy (Beth), Patricia (Jed), Cassandra, Amanda, Marc-Andre and Arianne , and her 3 great-granddaughters Elise, Diana and Kathryn, as well as her extended family which encompassed many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.

Mary was a shining example of love. Her home was a haven, fondly dubbed the United Nations, where everyone was welcome. Arriving at her home you would often find a scrabble or card game in progress in her kitchen while she cooked up a storm. No one ever left her house hungry and always left with leftovers for another meal during the week. When she wasn’t showing us her love by feeding us or beating us at scrabble and card games, she would be in her yard  enjoying her beautiful garden. Her hugs were legendary, her goodbyes never-ending, she'd wave until our cars vanished from sight. Her quick wit and unwavering faith guided us through life's twists and turns.

Mary will be missed by her next door neighbours, Valerie, Michelle and Brendan. They became a part of her family. The Daley family would like to extend our sincere gratitude for all that they did as they helped Mom continue to live independently in her home and watch over her.

We would like to thank the Sisters of the Precious Blood and the staff and volunteers who provided Mary a wonderful and faith filled life at St Bernard’s Residence. We would also like to thank the staff at Humber River Hospital for the care and dignity they provided to Mary the last 3 weeks.

Though she's left our side, her love remains. We'll miss her deeply but we take comfort in knowing that her love will endure through the memories she left us.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her memory to the “Canadian Feed the Children “ charity or any Foodbank of your choice.
