Mary "Claire" MacDowell

Passed away suddenly at home on Thursday, October 27, 2011 in her 88th year. Born in Toronto, Ontario, Claire was the daughter of Edward and Ethel Downey. She lived with her family in Islington, Ontario, Pointe Claire, Quebec and Oakville, Ontario. Greatly loved wife of the late Frank (2006) for 55 years. Loving mother of Hugh and his wife Christine, and Paul, all of Oakville and Peter and his wife Kathryn of Vancouver, BC. Devoted grandmother of Andrew, Michael, Sarah, Matthew and Connor. Claire was sister to Gerard Downey of Scarborough. Her brothers John and Edward Downey predeceased her. She was a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Ward Funeral Home, 109 Reynolds St., Oakville (905-844-3221), on Wednesday, November 2nd from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Michaels R.C. Church, 181 Sewell Drive, Oakville, on Thursday, November 3, 2011 at 11 a.m.. Burial to follow at St. Thomas Cemetery, Waterdown, Ontario.
