Hrycanuk, Mary-Anne Frances (nee Zelek):
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary-Anne Frances Hrycanuk, on January 30th, 2016, in her 74th year. Mary-Anne went peacefully after a valiant effort to rally back to health surrounded by the immense love and support of her family and dear friends. Mary-Anne struggled for many years to manage her Diabetes, Kidney Disease, and Heart Disease. She was determined and strong, and never gave up! She leaves behind her loving husband of 45 years, John Hrycanuk, her son Deryk, and his wife Dorothy, and her daughter Laurene Winter, and her husband Marco. She will be lovingly remembered by sisters, Donna Walc (Richard), Susan Burak (the late Lawrence), and her brother Dr. Walter Zelek, and his spouse Daiga.
Mary-Anne was also a very devoted Babcia to 6 beautiful grandchildren, who inspired her to have the courage and drive to tackle whatever obstacle her illness threw her way. She was their biggest fan, and couldn’t be more proud of each of them! Babcia will remain in the hearts and memories of Dylan, Daniel, Mikaela, Dane, Mason, and Peyton forever. In addition, Mary-Anne leaves behind several nieces and nephews who she maintained wonderful relationships with: Leslie, Kristina, Alanna, Michael, Tanya, and Tara.
Mary-Anne was undoubtedly the Matriarch of the family. We hope all will remember her for the spirited, out-spoken, kind, and loving woman she was. May God grant this brave and beautiful woman the peace she so deserves.
Family and friends are invited to gather at Ward Funeral Home “Weston Chapel”, 2035 Weston Road, Toronto on Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at St. Maximilian Kolbe, 4260 Cawthra Road, Mississauga. Private Cremation to follow.
