Martja Postma September 4, 1927 – January 1, 2026 Brampton
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Martja Postma (nee Bylsma) on January 1, 2026 at age 98. Martja was born on September 4, 1927 in Stroobos, Groningen to late Leuwe Bylsma and late Wiegerina Bylsma. Sister to late Jaap, late Henny, Dierke, late Elke, and Griet. Martja was married to late Thys Postma on August 16, 1951 and was a mother to late Jim Postma (Alison), Winny Van Tuinen (Chuck), Coby Fedorchak (George), late Len Postma, Gary Postma (Margaret). She was cherished by eleven grandchildren: Charissa Van Tuinen, Julia Van Tuinen, Christopher Postma, Rebecca Postma (Tyler), Marusia Fedorchak, Katrina Fedorchak, Natalie Fedorchak, Kos Fedorchak, Ryan Postma, Sean Postma, and Michael Postma. She was blessed by seven great grandchildren: Kayla Santos, Kayden Santos, Alice Rouble, Paige Rouble, Griffin Postma, Vincent Hennigan, and Heather Hennigan. Martja also foster cared for 65+ infants (Her prayers were always with them).
Martja was a beloved mother to many children. She had a big collection of doekje’s, which we, as kids, would try and escape from (but she would always manage to run after us to clean our hands and faces after a warm meal at the table – She always made a good pot of soup). There were many warm things that she created by crocheting or knitting. We were always bundled up in hats, scarves, mittens, sweaters, and blankets made by Mom/Oma. There would always be baked cookies and cake. She has kept us warm and nurtured us with unconditional love for many years (generation after generation) – repeated patterns that started off with a ball of yarn, a crochet hook, two knitting needles, and a needle and thread. She smiled when she left us, knowing that she had created a beautiful family (her tapestry with many threads that would constantly grow or become unraveled and mended over and over again, with her heart and two hands). We love you Mom/Oma.
Frends and Family will be welcomed:
