Marjorie Wittmann
July 10, 1923 – May 16th, 2023
Peacefully, on Tuesday May 16th, our beautiful mother slipped away in her sleep, just shy of her 100th birthday. Marjorie Peet, born in Edmonton, Alberta, was one of eight children. At the age of 23, she ventured to Toronto and worked as a stenographer for Household Finance. Marjorie met Mark Wittmann on a blind date to the Palace Pier; they fell in love and together created a wonderful life. Dad often referred to the love of his life, as Lana (Turner) and he was her Clark (Gable).
Marjorie will be dearly missed by her children: Sue and Paul (Kelly), Carol and Richard (Beagle), Judi and Steve (Wilson), Mark and Terry, Frank and Denise, Barb and Dean (Castellan), Sarah Jane Ralston; and lovingly remembered by her 25 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and her remaining siblings: Christopher Peet and Elizabeth Crawford. Pre-deceased by Mark, her beloved husband of 56 years, her infant daughter Mary Louise and son-in-laws Michael Deegan and Stephen Smith.
Family, God and being creative were the central tenants of Mom’s life. Mom dedicated her life to her family and was always home to nurture, support and love us. Mom was an active member of the CWL and the decorating committee at St Clement’s Parish in Etobicoke. She was a wonderful seamstress and made many of our childhood clothes, later, honing her skills and designing many bridesmaid dresses and even Barb’s wedding gown. Her passion for oil painting was evident in the many landscape and urban pieces she created; many of which proudly hang in our homes today. Mom loved to entertain and prepare culinary delights for her guests and also enjoyed crocheting, gardening and bridge. Mom – we are forever thankful and blessed for your tremendous love and devotion to our family.
The family is grateful for the excellent care mom received at The Village of Sandalwood Park. Visitation will be held at Ward Funeral Home (52 Main St S, Brampton) on Friday June 9th, from 2:00pm to 5:00pm. Mass will take place at 11:00am on Sat June 10th at St Anne’s Parish, 115 Vodden St E, Brampton. Lunch reception to follow immediately after Mass at the Rotary Glen 1857 Queen Street West, Brampton. Those wishing to make a donation in mom’s memory may do so to the St Vincent de Paul Society.
We love you Mom. Lana is now in the loving arms of her Clark ….. in eternal peace
