CHARTERS, Marion Patricia -
Passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, April 23rd, 2013 in King City, Ontario. She is survived by her loving son Paul (Evelyn), devoted Nan to Colleen (Dave) and Brendan (Lindsey), and proud great-grandmother to Campbell and Darcy.
Born in Toronto on November 7th, 1925 and educated at the Royal Conservatory of Music, she taught piano for many years out of her home in North York and was a regular organist in the Anglican Church.
At 35, she went back to school and began her nearly 30 year career as a much-adored kindergarten teacher at Dublin P.S. and after 23 years on to Derrydown P.S. where she shared her love of music and reading with hundreds of "little folk" until she retired in 1989.
Marion used her teacher's salary to purchase a family cottage on Lake Muskoka in 1962 and was proud to know her legacy will continue to bring much joy to her family for continuing generations.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, April 29th at the Ward Funeral Home; 2035 Weston Road in Toronto. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 am and on to a graveside service at Riverside Cemetery on Royal York Road at Lawrence.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
