Vince passed peacefully at Toronto Grace Hospital on June 9, 2026, in his 85th year.
Vince spent many happy years at the family cottage on Six Mile Lake, where he loved to "putter" and felt most at home surrounded by nature. He began his career with the Teamsters Union before going on to work as a Labour Mediator with the Provincial Government. Even after retirement, he remained close to many of his colleagues and treasured the friendships he made throughout his career.
A creative soul, Vince loved art and enjoyed painting watercolours. He also had a poet's heart, often putting his thoughts and reflections into writing. Vince genuinely enjoyed being around people. He was a wonderful listener who took an interest in others and made people feel heard and valued. Whether with family, friends, neighbours, or colleagues, he enjoyed good conversation and the company of those around him.
Known for his impeccable sense of style, Vince took great pride in his wardrobe and was always well dressed. Family members often joked that he had a larger closet than his beloved wife.
Vince was predeceased by his beloved wife, Maggie Knap, and his brother, Stanley Knap.
He will be dearly missed by his daughter, Susanne; his stepdaughter, Danna; his grandchildren, Myles (Kaitlyn) and Rex Taylor (Samantha); and his great-grandchildren, Bellamy, Penelope, and Octavia. He will also be fondly remembered by his niece, nephews, and their families.
Vince's quiet strength, creativity, kindness, generosity of spirit, dedication to family and friends, and love of the outdoors will be remembered by all who knew him.
