After a fearless battle and surrounded by family, Marie passed away on May 29, 2024. Affectionately referred to as “Greta” or simply “Nan”, Marie was beloved by her friends and family.
Survived by her cherished husband, John Winstanley, the two were married for 45 wonderful years. After a chance meeting at the Brampton Public Library, John and Marie married on December 1, 1977 and built a beautiful life together in Brampton, Ontario.
Marie was a proud mother to Shannon Rehding (Martin) and Johnny (Lisa). The light of Marie’s life were her grandchildren: Michael, Mathew, Samantha, Ella, Jackson and Tessa. Between watching their games or buying them endless gifts, Marie was a constant in their lives and a true example of generosity and love.
Marie was relentless when it came to helping those in need and found her true calling in life when she began her work as an Early Resource Worker with the DPCDSB.
Marie will be lovingly remembered by her extended family & friends.
The family will receive family and friends at the Ward Funeral Home (52 Main St. S, Brampton ON) on Sunday, June 2, 2024, from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. and Tuesday, June 4 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Funeral service to be held in the Ward Chapel at 11:00 a.m.
Her memory will be engraved in our hearts forever.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Odette Cancer Centre at Sunnybrook Hospital.
