Maria Luisa Giorgi passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at the age of 95, surrounded by her loving family.
Maria Luisa was a devoted wife to the late Francesco, with whom she shared a lifetime of love grounded in their strong Roman Catholic faith. She was a proud and loving mother to Pasquale (Lorella), Antonio (Sandra), and Laura (Clivio), and a cherished Nonna to Maria Luisa (Danilo), Francesco (Marialuisa), Alessandra, and Kristian. She was a dear sister to Mario (Maria). Lovingly remembered by her cousins, especially Giovanni, as well as her nieces and nephews, including Frank (Sheila) and Mario (Mimi), whom she helped raise and who came to know her as a second mother. She will also be deeply missed by her extended family, many friends, her beloved Layla, and all who knew and loved her.
A woman with an enormous heart, Maria Luisa was known for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering positivity. Her faith in God guided her life and gave her strength in all circumstances. She opened her home and heart to everyone, always offering comfort, encouragement, and love, especially to her children. Her warm smile lifted spirits and gave hope, and her deep bonds with those around her were a true reflection of the life she lived.
Maria Luisa will now be reunited in eternal peace with her beloved husband Francesco, her parents Francesco and Teresa, her older brother Ferdinando, and his wife Dora.
Born in the small town of Pietrafitta, Cosenza, Italy, to Francesco and Teresa Tarsitano, Maria Luisa shared a special bond with her brothers Ferdinando and Mario, particularly after the early passing of their father. She loved to sing and dance, and on many occasions her brother Ferdinando proudly shared the dance floor with her.
Maria Luisa’s home was always filled with lively music and the comforting aromas of her incredible cooking and baking. An amazing cook, her meals were an expression of love, and the memories of family gathered around her dining room table will be cherished forever.
A caring wife, devoted mother, loving grandmother, aunt, and friend, Maria Luisa was truly loved by all. She will also be fondly remembered by her devoted caregiver, Kristel, who loved her deeply and cared for her with compassion and kindness.
Family and friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home, Woodbridge Chapel, 4671 Hwy 7, Woodbridge (just west of Pine Valley Dr.), on Sunday from 2–4 p.m. and 6–9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 300 Ansley Grove Rd., Woodbridge. Interment will take place in her hometown of Pietrafitta, Cosenza, Italy.
