With sad hearts we announce that Maria Luciani, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2026 at the age of 86. She was called home to be with the Lord, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loved ones.
Born on September 26, 1939, in Castropignano, Italy, Maria carried with her the warmth, strength, and deep-rooted traditions of her heritage throughout her life. She was a woman of resilience and unwavering devotion to her family who she thought of and cared for continuously. Maria created a home filled with love, delicious meals, and cherished memories that will live on for generations.
She is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband of 70 years, Vittorio Luciani, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and partnership. She leaves behind her children: her daughter, Franca Gagnon, and son-in-law Serge Gagnon; and her son, Robert Luciani, and daughter-in-law Rose Luciani.
Maria was a blessed and caring grandmother to Christianne Gagnon, Melanie Santos (Mark Santos), Michael Luciani, and Aliyah Luciani and her legacy continue through her precious great-granddaughter, Amelia Santos.
Maria will be remembered for her kind heart, her quiet strength, her sense of humour, laughing spirit, warm constant smile and the unconditional love she gave so freely. She touched the lives of all who knew her in her community and leaves behind a legacy of family, tradition, and love.
Though her family mourns her passing, they find peace in the promise of eternal life through Christ and know that she has been welcomed into the arms of the Lord.
She will be forever in our hearts and always in our memories.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to a charity of your choice and that you remember Maria whenever you light a candle or spend time with your loved ones.
