Maria Helena Botelho, née Oliviera, passed away in Brampton on August 27, 2026, at the age of 87, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Portugal on July 31, 1939, Maria will be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and a woman whose warmth touched those around her.
Maria was known for her contagious laugh, her strong work ethic, and the deep love she carried for her family. She especially loved her grandchildren, who brought her great pride and joy. She also found happiness in flowers and gardening, pleasures that reflected the care, patience, and beauty she brought into everyday life.
She will be dearly missed by her children: Augustino Botelho (Janeth), Maria Helena Dower (Calvin), Joe Botelho, Carlos Botelho (Judith), and Jamie Botelho (Salome). Maria also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Zymeth, Cody (Stephanie), Brandon, Chad (Chaene), Bianca, Nathan, Christopher, and Daniel (Shyanne), as well as great-grandchildren who were an important part of her life and legacy. She is lovingly remembered by her sisters, Etelvihna, Maria Das Anjos and predeceased by her sister Manuela.
Maria was predeceased by her husband, Augustino Botelho, who died in 1996, and by her son Manny Botelho. Their memories remained close to her heart throughout her life.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Ward Funeral Home - Brampton Chapel, 52 Main Street South, Brampton, on Monday, August 31, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Mass will be held at Our Lady Of Fatima Church, 101 Malta Avenue, Brampton, on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery, 6933 Tomken Road, Mississauga, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Maria Helena Botelho will be remembered with love for her laughter, her strength, her devotion to her family, and the joy she found in the simple beauty of life. Her memory will remain a lasting blessing to all who knew and loved her.
