Maria Chaves Esperanca, age 96 passed away in Toronto at Etobicoke General Hospital on February 29, 2012 at 1:30 am from old age. Maria was born October 29, 1915 in Santa Maria, Azores. Her parents were Virginia Batista De Chaves and Jose De Chaves who she will now join in God's arms.
Maria was a mother of three, Anibal Figueredo, Eduarda Ferreira, and Etelvina Soares.
Not only was she a wonderful mother but a magnificent grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, aunt and friend to many of us. Maria was the widow of Fransisco Esperanca. She was a homemaker who not only raised her own children but also nurtured her grandchildren and in fact also her great grandchildren.
Maria loved her soap operas very much! (Young and The Restless, Bold and The Beautiful) and knitting was her ultimate hobby. Maria was definitely a lady, no matter what age; she always took care of herself. She would always have her nails painted, did her hair and always made sure she was groomed. She was the most witty, courageous individual with an exceptional sense of humor who was always full of wisdom and fought to the very end. She was our super woman; let's just say she was a character who will be greatly missed.
Only God knows why he does the things he does, so we will now leave her in his hands. Our thoughts, prayers and memories will always be with Maria Chaves Esperanca.
