Maria Manuela Salgueiro Aleixo

It is with profound sorrow and sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Maria Manuela Salgueiro Aleixo on November 2, 2025 at the age of 87.

Manuela, as she prefered to be called, leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew her, but her spirit of resilience will forever be an inspiration. Manuela’s greatest passion was her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and cherished every moment spent with them. She is survived by her loving husband, John Santos Aleixo, married for 66 years, her children, John (Lucy) and Fernando, her grandchildren, Julia and Matthew and a wide circle of extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.

Manuela was a true warrior who navigated a lifetime of serious health issues with a remarkable amount of courage and grace. Despite the continuous battles and the physical toll on her body, she never stopped fighting and refused to let her ailments define her life. To the very end, she faced every challenge head-on, proving time and again the strength of the human spirit. Family and friends will remember Manuela for her infectious, ever-present smile and an unwavering positive attitude that brought light to even the darkest days. She had a unique ability to make others feel valued and special, always thinking of those around her even when she herself was in pain. Her kindness, warmth, and sense of humour made her a joy to be around, and she made friends everywhere she went.
