Peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family, Maria was called home to be with her Lord on Saturday, July 15th, 2023, at the age of 94.

Beloved wife of Michele Adamo (deceased in 1996), loving Mamma to Vita (Giovanni Catalano), Luigi (Cathy Adamo), Piera (deceased 2021) and Girolamo (deceased 2021), and loving Nonna to her 7 grandchildren, and Bis-Nonna to her 10 great-grandchildren. Maria will fondly be remembered by her family, neighbours & friends.

Maria Adamo (nee Nicosia) was born on December 3rd, 1928, in a tiny village in Fulgatore, Trapani, Sicilia. After starting her family, Maria was then called to Canada by her brother, Alberto Nicosia where they could explore opportunities and provide a prosperous life for their growing family.

In 1966, Maria, Michele and their four young children, took a leap of faith and embarked on an adventure travelling on the Queen Federica, a ship that would take them to this unknown but talked about country, Canada. They arrived in Halifax at Pier 21 and then made their way by train to their new home, and final destination in Toronto, Ontario. For 56 years, Maria continued to live happily, surrounded by love and laughter in that very same home where she raised her family and later watched her grandchildren and great grandchildren grow. In 2022, Maria moved into Woodbridge Vista Caregiving Community Long Term Care where staff loved and cared for her to the very end.
