Margarete Riske

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Margarete Riske (nee Bast) at the age of 97 on Friday, October 24 2025.

Margarete is survived by her loving husband of 74 years, Rudolf and by her daughter Marita (Mary) Duggan.  Predeceased by her brother Paul Bast,and by her grandsons Mark Duggan and Michael Duggan.  She is also survived by her brother Manfred and grandchildren Michael, Margaret and Susan; great grandchildren Zaira, Makenna, Nadia, Axel, Kiera and Elena and great-great grandson Xavier. Beloved aunt to Petra, Silvia and Reimer, great aunt to Sonja, Corey, Tyler, Thomas, Kayla and Ryan and great-great aunt to Denzel, Delia, Demya, Bentley and Kaylee.

Born in Germany, Margarete, Rudolf and Marita immigrated to Canada in 1963 where she tended to her family and home. She was a beacon in all our lives and will be missed beyond measure. She lead by example and had a zest and will to enjoy life to the fullest, no matter what it threw at her.
