Margaret Zuk

Margaret Zuk (nee Thomson)

Peacefully, at the Brampton Civic Hospital on Saturday, July 5, 2025 in her 95th. year. Beloved wife of the late David (1990). Cherished and much loved mother of Robert and Mitch (Alison).

Sadly missed by her grandchildren Pier and Silje. Predeceased by brothers Harold "Sonny" (Joan) Thomson and Robert Thomson (Kathy). Dear cousin of David Gourlie (Cynthia) and Aunt to nieces Julie, Carolin and Kathleen. Margaret was the loving and longtime friend of Pauline Gaudet, Cassie Barris, Bill Vennè, Gloria Fortune, June Wilkins, Norman and Diane Tomas. Predeceased by parents Roy and Bertha Thomson.

Raising a family and owning a home in Warren Park Valley was mom’s happy place. Margaret was best known for her smile greeting everyone she met. She volunteered at Credit Valley Hospital for 28 years, greeting visitors, supporting staff and spreading her sunshine. Known for her giving spirit and always supporting others; she was an avid gardener and loved her cookbooks, one of which was given to her by her grandmother. Margaret was very proud of the Thomson ancestry as outlined in the 1963 ancestral book, Crocus and Meadowlark Country: A Story of an Alberta Family by Georgina H. Thomson. Mom’s favourite songs were: Four Strong Winds, Yesterday, When I was Young, and I Apologize.

Always giving of herself with no expectations of rewards, but love.

Here is a poem that Margaret wrote in 1943 at General Mercer Public School in the Toronto Junction area:

"Prayers and Good Works

Within your memory Store

And at Stray Moments

Say them O'er and O'er

I will help to hallow

All your work and play

And Holy thoughts will

Keep bad thoughts away"

“Always remembered, never forgotten; I love you mom.
