Margaret Anne Johnston (Stanley)

It is with our deepest sadness the Johnston family announces the passing of Margaret Anne Johnston, a beloved mother, grandmother, family member, and friend. Born on August 4th, 1935, Margaret passed away peacefully on August 8th 2026 at Amica Georgetown.

Margaret shared 56 wonderful years of marriage with her husband, William (Bill). Together they shared a fulfilling life, raising a family and traveling the world, while founding Bramgate Automotive and growing it into the successful business it is today. Some of their fondest memories were attending theatre, watching sporting events, and enjoying winters at their second home in Naples, Florida. Margaret devoted her life to her family, offering constant selfless love, support, and encouragement. Her legacy is the way she enriched the lives of others.  She was a very social person who showed deep caring and pride for her many friends. She took great joy in spending time in social settings. These included weekly Mahjong games, Chinguacousy Tennis Club matches, ladies golf groups, book lectures, and garden tours. While she enjoyed these activities it was the many personal relationships that she truly cherished.

Margaret was predeceased by her loving husband William and her brother Brian. She is survived by her two sons Bill and Brad, her daughters in law Pam and Alissa, her two granddaughters Stephanie and Olivia and her brother Philip.

The family would like to thank the team members at Amica Georgetown for their extraordinary love and care of Margaret over the past five years.

Due to her husband William’s passing during the Covid pandemic in 2020, there will be a Celebration of their life together later this fall. The date and time will be made public in the coming weeks.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the William Osler System Health Foundation.https://oslerfoundation.org/
