Passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Sunday January 4, 2026 at the age of 78. Proud mother of Ann-Marie, Donna-Marie, Donovan (Ann Marie), Antonio (Melissa) and Wain. Cherished Grandmother of Nicole, Shantell, Curtis, Kadie-Ann (pre-deceased), Olivia, Leshaun, Keyshawn, Deshawn, Miquel, Nathan and Shemar. Loving Great Grandmother of Lucas, Gabrielle, Luna and Jace. She will be sadly missed by her many family and friends. Mareika has been reunited with her beautiful granddaughter Kadie-Ann.

Born in the quaint parish of St. Anne’s in Discovery Bay, Jamaica to loving parents Joseph and Violet Walters.

Mareika was a selfless caring woman who extended these traits in her career as a nurse.

She had great pride in her family and loved cooking and caring for them. Mareika could be found in her kitchen cooking up her amazing traditional island dishes. We will never forget the wonderful aroma’s that would fill the house.

A woman of great faith, Mareika presents within her church will be greatly missed among her many church family.

Family and friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home 4671 Hwy 7, Woodbridge (just west of Pine Valley Dr.) on Saturday January 17th, 2026 from 10 a.m. till service time at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Beechwood Cemetery.
