Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at the age of 80. He is survived by his wife Maria Conceição Fernandes, his daughter and son-in-law Elisete and Antonio Alves and his son and daughter-in-law Carlos and Florinda Silva. Proud grandfather of Monica, Licinio, Diane, Eldon, Melanie and Alex. Doting great grandfather to Emma and Alicia. Manuel will be sadly missed by many friends and family in Canada and in Portugal. He will be fondly remembered for his strength and courage, his pride in his family, and his passion for barbequing!

Visitation will be held Friday, May 9, 2014 from 2-4pm and 6-9pm at the Ward Funeral Home (52 Main Street South, Brampton, ON). Funeral mass will be held at 9:30am on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Our Lady of Fatima Church (101 Malta Ave, Brampton, ON). Burial will follow at Assumption Cemetery (intersection of Tomken Road and Derry Road in Mississauga, ON).
