It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dearest Luigia Bertato. Born to Beniamino and Elena Buna in Italy on September 21, 1941. Peacefully passed away at Hospice Vaughan on Friday, November 10, 2023 in her 83rd year.

She was a devoted and loving wife to Sergio Bertato for nearly 60 years, together they shared a lifetime of happiness and cherished memories. Beloved mother of Luciano (Angela), Maurizio (Martina) and Ronnie (Tammy). Cherished Nonna of Julius, Gregory and Olivia. Loving sister of the late Eliza, Gina, Carla and Bianca. She will be lovingly remembered by her nieces, nephews and extended family.

A woman of strength beyond expectation, she was dedicated to her family and was the matriarch of her household. Luigia’s eyes lit up most for her grandchildren. There are no words to describe her immeasurable love for them .She tended to her garden with great care and her family will always remember the bounty she would grow and share with them all. A woman who lived life like she crochet - one stitch at a time creating beautiful pieces for her family. Always cooking traditional Italian meals, ensuring her children were well taken care of.

All are welcome to gather at Ward Funeral Home, 4671 Hwy 7, Woodbridge on Monday, November 13, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the Ward Funeral Home Chapel on Monday at 1:00 p.m. with entombment to follow at Beechwood Cemetery.
