Del Re, Mr. Luigi

October 11th, 1928 – February 7th, 2017

Peacefully on Tuesday February 7th, 2017 at Brampton Civic Hospital. Beloved husband of Maria for 65 years. Loving father of Vito and his wife Stephanie, Gino and his wife Soultana. Cherished Nonno of Marcia (George), Steve, Melissa, Louis, Marcus and Curtis. Bisnonno of Victoria and Alexandra.

Luigi immigrated to Canada in 1951 from Italy to start a new life. He arrived in Canada via ship in Halifax and made numerous stops until he settled in Edmonton where he awaited for his newlywed wife Maria who arrived in 1953. Luigi, Maria and their first son Vito moved to Toronto in 1956, a city they still call home. After settling in Toronto for many years their second son Gino was born in 1964. Luigi was a simple man who was hard working, who enjoyed his family and friends and loved to travel.

Friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home, 4671 Hwy 7, Woodbridge, 905-851-9100, on Friday from 2-4 & 6-9 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Peter’s Church 100 Bainbridge Ave, in Woodbridge on Saturday February 11th, 2017 at 11 a.m. Entombment to follow at Westminster Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated by the family.





Though his smile is gone forever,
And his hand we cannot touch,
Still we have so many memories,
Of the man we love so much.
His memory is our keepsake,
With which we will never part.
God has him in his keeping,
We have him in our hearts.
Sadly missed but never forgotten.
