Lucia Pernarella

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dearest Lucia Pernarella. Surrounded by the love of her family she passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, in her 96th year. Lucia was born to Carmine & Erminia Serrone in Pompei Italy, on February 5, 1929.

She immigrated to Canada from Italy, where she married her beloved husband, Augusto Pernarella. The family was blessed with 2 children Carlo & Carmen. After 6 years in Canada the family returned to Italy where they welcomed their third child Ida. Years later they returned to Canada where they would raise their children and watch their grandchildren and great grandchildren grow.

Lucia will be deeply missed and forever remembered as a devoted mother to Carlo (Ivana), Carmen (Josephine) & Ida (Joe); a loving grandmother of Davide (Nikki), Austin (Gena), Vanessa, Daniel, Luca, Celina; and a proud great grandmother of Gioia, Audrina, and Vittoria.

She will be remembered by her surviving sister, Giuseppina, and by her extended family in both Italy and Toronto.

Lucia had an incredible talent for creating warmth and joy through her cooking and baking. Her delicious cakes, cookies, and home-cooked meals were made with love and shared generously with all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, tradition, and kindness that will live on in the hearts of everyone who was fortunate to know her.

Family and Friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home (4671 Hwy 7, Woodbridge) on Monday, May 5, 2025 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. & 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. David’s (2601 Major Mackenzie Dr. Maple, ON) on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at 9:00 a.m.
