Obituary

It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our mother Louise  (Lou Lou) on April 10, 2026. Born in Belgium in 1928, mom and her family left for the UK at the beginning of the 2nd World War. Fluent in several languages she traveled widely but settled in Montreal with her loving husband Derrick Francis Eagar (predeceased) and her young family in 1964. An avid horseback rider she spent countless hours on trails through the New Forest in the South of England. Mom started skiing as a teenager in the Pyrenees, and continued here with the family in the Laurentian mountains, Newfoundland, and Whistler BC. In her summers she loved being in the water, either pool or seaside. On the tennis courts she was accomplished, with a fantastic service. Later years in St. Catharines mom and dad spent their days on the golf course, coming back to their house, grapevines, and homemade wine. After the passing of Derrick in 1998, mom continued a full independent life with her wee Havanese puppy “Rico”, and the help of many great friends. Mom always loved to dance and lift the spirits of those around her; she was up on her feet dancing just a week ago!

Predeceased by her two brothers Ian Siffre (Anne) and Eric Siffre. She will be missed terribly by her sons Simon (Gabrielle) and Peter (Sandra),along with her grandchildren Michael, Claire, and Elise, and her great grand son Adam. Also Jean Siffre, Anne Eagar (Francis), Paul, Joanna, Emma, Rachel, Kathryn, the Burzynski family, the Lyons family, Frankie and Robert, Ruth, Brian and Marika, Burton and Irène, and many grand nieces and nephews. Though out her life mom was thoughtful, generous, and outgoing. She had an immense number of wonderful friends. She will be missed tremendously.

Instead of flowers, donations to the wonderful help of Dorothy Ley Hospice would be very much appreciated.
