Lorne Cronier (“Lornie”), age 84, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 9, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on August 10, 1941, in Toronto, Ontario, Lorne was the beloved son of Charles and Ruth Cronier, brother to Carole, Gail and Michelle. He was a devoted husband of 52 years to Carla, and the proud father of daughters Danielle (James) and Renee (Corrado). He was also the cherished grandfather of Brynn, Jaime, Jaxson, and Jordan.
Lorne was the quintessential family man, deeply devoted to his wife, children, grandchildren and extended family. Fifty-six years ago, he purchased a home on John Street in Weston, where he and Carla built a wonderful life surrounded by a close-knit community of lifelong friends. This “family of friends” continued to support and love him throughout his battle with COPD, and their kindness and care during his final years will forever be cherished by his wife and children.
Lorne’s favourite pastimes included fishing with his buddies and spending time at the racetrack. Many of his happiest memories — from family outings to his retirement celebration — were made amidst the excitement of horse racing and the company of those he loved most. A die-hard Montreal Canadiens fan, Lorne spent countless nights cheering for his beloved Habs and took special delight whenever they beat the Leafs.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Ward Funeral Home, 2035 Weston Road. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Lorne will be remembered for his humour, warmth, and the deep love he shared with all who knew him.
Forever loved, forever missed.
