Lorena Barahona

April 14, 1968 — March 21, 2024

Lorena Barahona

Lorena Barahona passed away peacefully with family by her side on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at the age of 55. Devoted wife to Mauricio of 28 wonderful years. Proud and exemplary mother of Paola, Melanie, Alexia, and Valentina. Lorena will be sadly missed by her mother Zoila Garcia, her siblings, and her many family and friends.

Lorena was born to parents Gonzalo and Zoila in Guatemala in 1968. At the age of 14, her family uprooted and moved to Canada for new opportunities.

Lorena met Mauricio at his travel agency in 1989 and got married in 1995. They have been inseparable since. Together, the couple built a beautiful family who loved to travel, create memories, and spend time with loved ones. Lorena and Mauricio loved to dance and would take to the dance floor at every opportunity—she was fondly referred to as the “Dancing Queen.” Lorena and Mauricio's incomparable love leaves a beautiful impact on anyone who had the pleasure of witnessing it. She was a family woman who never hesitated to put her family first.

Lorena's legacy lives on through her four daughters who each work hard in pursuit of their dreams. She led them by example throughout their childhood and early adolescence with her insatiable desire to take care of family and provide them with a life her own parents had always hoped for. She was happiest when her girls were with her, and she leaves them with boundless love and wisdom.

Lorena fought a courageous battle with brain cancer. Her family and her devotion to her faith gave her the strength to get through these last 3 years.

As we say goodbye to Lorena's presence here on Earth, let us remember her "beautiful smile," as her husband would always say. Let us also cherish her gratitude for every moment in life, big or small, and her humble willingness to help each and every person who showed up at her front door.

As the Lord now welcomes Lorena into his gates, may we find peace in knowing she is greeted by the embrace of her father Gonzalo, with whom she is now at eternal rest with.

“Forever loved, always remembered.”
