Lodino Di Vincenzo, born April 7, 1930. It is with great sadness that we announce
the passing of Lodino Di Vincenzo on Monday, September 26, 2011. He passed
away with dignity, after a long and courageous battle with colon cancer. Born in
Abruzzo, Italy, he came to this country on May 16, 1957. He will be in the hearts of his loving wife, Livia, his children Marisa and Josie (Cosimo Sgambelluri), and his
adored grandchildren, Samuel and Sarah. He was surrounded by the love and
support of his brother Luigi (Gelsomina) and his caring children, Joe, Massimo and Stefania. He will be fondly remembered by his sisters, Elvira (the late Franco DiGiovanni) and Leonella (the late Livio Poli), his sister-in-laws, Nina (Alfonso Tacconelli), Ada (the late Tommaso Santacecilia), AnnaMaria (the late Bruno Santacecilia), and predeceased by Velia Santacecilia. His passing will also be felt by the close relationships he had with his nieces and nephews and many family members in Italy. Lodino loved his life and he was loved by many. He was guided by his values of
family, love and justice. He touched the hearts of many and relished in his friendships and his love for gardening and animals. Our family would like to extend heartfelt
appreciation to Dr. Dorothy Lo and the Oncology staff at St. Joseph’s Health Centre
who provided him with exceptional care and compassion. We also want to extend our gratitude to Lodino’s home nurse, Kim Joyce. Starting in 2008, Kim travelled regularly to his home to care for him. But it was more than this; he and Kim developed a special bond, filled with hope, warmth, tremendous support and many bowls of pasta. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the St. Josephs’ Health Centre at www.stjoe.on.ca in tribute of Lodino Di Vincenzo, Oncology Unit.
