Linette May Brown passed away peacefully in her 78th year on January 21st, 2023, in Toronto. She is survived by her three children; Tonia Brown, Chris Simpson and Amanda Simpson, her grandchildren Elianna Simpson, Ethan Simpson, Elyssa Simpson, daughter-in-law, Keisha Simpson and many extended family members and friends.
Linette is predeceased by her father Ernest Brown, mother Winnifred Brown, brothers Wesley Brown and Melvin Brown, and sister Jean Robinson.
Linette was born in Mandeville, Manchester Jamaica. She migrated to Canada in 1970, where she raised her children and worked for over 50 years at the Sheraton Hotel. She was an active member of the union at her place of employment and a passionate advocate for women's, immigrant's and employee's rights. Linette was instrumental in spear-heading the implementation of groundbreaking policies which benefit employees to this day. She adored her grandchildren and children and was a lover of the Toronto Blue Jays and many music genres, notably gospel and the blues.
Linette will be remembered most fondly for her witty sense of humour, love for others, selflessness, and the many profound life lessons that she taught, not only by her words, but also by her actions.
She was a giant, a champion, our hero, and our Mom. Our hearts are broken, but we know she is resting in eternal peace and harmony with God!
