Linda Dorothy MacLeod (née Pickersgill) passed away of natural causes on April 22, 2025, in her 90th year. Linda is now reunited with her beloved husband Don, her daughter Allison, her parents Victor and Dorothy (née Burcher), her siblings Michael and Thelma, her nephews Tim and Mitch Conroy, and many cherished pets including Mitzi, Mickey, Madison, Haley, and especially Shelby.
Born and raised in Montreal, Quebec, Linda and her husband Don came to Brampton in 1962 and were one of the first families to buy a house in the growing sub-division of Peel Village. In 1972, Linda got her driver’s license and began to work part-time at Simpsons (which later became The Bay), while eventually retiring in 2000.
Linda and Don raised three children in Peel Village, Allison, Colin and Gavin. In 1977, while the family began looking to purchase a dream home in the country, Don suddenly passed away.
Linda spent the next 48 years in that little house on Bartley Bull. She raised three children as a single mother, and created a life for herself in the local community. She had many friends and enjoyed outings and playing Bridge. She often looked after her two cherished grandchildren, as well as other friends’ dogs, in addition to her own. Her warm smile made her a familiar face to many customers at The Bay. She was also a staple member of the Peel Village community, often out walking her dogs and greeting neighbours with gifts and homemade cookies.
Linda is lovingly remembered by her sons Colin MacLeod and Gavin MacLeod (Lori), and her treasured grandchildren Cameron and Chloe MacLeod. She will be deeply missed by her sister Judy Conroy, brother Steve Pickersgill, sister-in-law Betty Pickersgill, niece Nicole Conroy, nephews Mark and Kyle Pickersgill, and extended families. She will also surely be remembered fondly by many dear friends and neighbours.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Linda's memory to the Upper Credit Humane Society https://uppercredit.com/make-a-donation or contributions can be made for a Memorial Bench in Peel Village Park https://gofund.me/ab728b5f
