Linda Diane Delaney

Mar 6, 2026

In loving memory of Linda Diane Delaney, we announce the passing of our beloved mother at the age of 78. Born May 29, 1947, in East York, Toronto to parents Violet and James Lyon, Linda grew up with her loving sister Joan.

At the young age of 19, she married the love of her life, Jack Delaney, where they began to grow a family of their own - Kelly (1967), Christopher (1971), and Corey (1973).

Linda and Jack embraced all things that came along with raising an active family. They gave us every chance we needed in life by putting us in activities and supporting us through our education. Their love for family was reflected in their actions, their guidance, and their presence. They were incredibly supportive, donating all their time and resources to our family. Few childhood activities occurred without Jack and Linda in the bleachers cheering us on.

As their kids got older, the families grew and spouses followed – Kelly (Ed), Christopher (Dawn), Corey (Andrea). Linda was then blessed with 7 grand children – Martin, Colin and Faith, Ava and Corbin, Jack and Kate.

What made Linda and Jack so beautiful is the obvious love they had for each other. They were truly best friends for 40+ years. They put each other first and were always up for a good time. They had their names scripted on their matching baseball jackets, and they held hands when they walked. They planned many day trips on their motorcycle hunting for a good ‘happy hour’ where they could find a cold beer and some wings. They looked forward to their annual drives to Florida for March Break, as they both loved being in the sun and near the water. Always together, wherever there was Jack, there was Linda.

Linda worked for 30+ years at St. Anne’s School, in Brampton, as Head Secretary. Our childhood friends lovingly referred to her as ‘Mrs. Delaney’. She was extremely loyal, and very proud of her role in the schoolboard supporting children’s education. It was her entire career until she retired at the age of 62, where she moved to Kincardine to be near the water.

Linda absolutely loved animals. She believed that having a dog in our house as kids made the house a home. Her love of animals passed down to her kids and grand kids as, to this day, we all have pets of our own. Linda’s dog Sophie was with her until the final move into long-term care a few short years ago.

Linda died too young, which was accelerated by a diagnosis of dementia. Sadly, we also lost Jack far too early at the age of 60, from COPD. They were robbed of several years of their life, after giving so much to everyone else along the way. We thank you for being the best of parents and being in our life as long as was possible.

We pray that Linda is now in peace, reunited with Jack, and hoping they can see the water from their seats in heaven.
