McBride, Lillian Marguerite - After a brief illness, and with the love of her family surrounding her, Lillian passed away on April 24, 2023 in her 95th year. Predeceased by her loving husband and best friend, Fred, Lillian will be sadly missed by her children Robert, David (Judy), Caroline (Fred), Colleen and Edward (Lori), eight grandchildren Adam, Jeffrey, Stephen (Haley), Matthew (Kristen), Alex, Jaclyn, Katherine and Scott and two great grandchildren Elias and Ronan.

Lil was born and raised in Toronto and grew up with her siblings Robert, James, Marilyn and Bill Martin. She met her soulmate Fred, a friend of the family from Ireland just after he moved to Canada and they enjoyed a loving marriage for 45 years.

Lil’s pride and joy was her family and she had a love and concern for children that extended well beyond her own. She had a special way of instilling a sense of calmness and safety in any child whether that be her own, her grandchildren, great grandchildren or the 16 foster babies she cared for over the years.

An avid reader, fascinating story teller, great cook and amazing host, Lil had a fantastic sense of humour and was happiest when she was serving you a cup of tea and engaging you in an interesting conversation.

The family will receive friends at Ward Funeral Home, on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. A final tribute for Lillian will be held at The Cathedral Church of St. James on Thursday at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow.
