It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Libero Michele Lapiccirella on August 22nd, 2026 at the age of 93. 

Born in Vieste, Italy, on March 15, 1933, Libero was one of six children. After working for years in Genova in the automotive industry, he decided to immigrate to Canada, where he started a life with his late wife, Antonietta Lapiccirella.

Together, the two created a family of four: Cathy, Filomena, Mimma and, of course, his baby boy Nicola. Libero would often share the story of his final child’s birth with pride, for he had patiently waited to have a son.

As a devoted husband and father, Libero always put his family first. It is the love and devotion that he had for his family that inspires the second generation, his grandchildren, and great-grandchild.

We are all lucky to have seen his smile for the last 93 years. Libero had a light that shone bright, especially when Italian music was playng.

He will be deeply missed by his family, his brother, and anyone who knew him.

Family and friends will be received at The Ward Funeral Home Woodbridge Chapel (4671 Highway 7, Woodbridge) on Thursday, August 27th, 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will take place Friday, August 28th, 2026 at Immaculate Conception Church (300 Ansley Grove Road, Woodbridge) at 9:30 AM. Entombment will follow at Beechwood Cemetery.
