LEO UPENIEKS It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Leo Upenieks on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at the age of 57. He will be dearly missed by his wife Janice, his two sons Andrew and John, his mother Antonina and by his brothers Ed (Marianne) and John (Maria). Predeceased by his father Jazeps (1999). Leo was a wonderful son-in-law, brother- in-law, uncle, cousin and friend to both the Upenieks and Cook Families. Leo started his business career at Hudson's Bay Company, quickly rising through the corporate ranks. After a quarter century at Hudson's Bay Company he then launched numerous successful business ventures. Leo had many great passions in life including family, bridge (Silver Life Master) and travel. Leo always brought out the best in everyone and enjoyed sharing the "finery" that he worked so hard for - fine wines, fine foods and even "finer" stories, creating a lasting legacy for family and friends. Friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home, 2035 Weston Rd. (North of Lawrence Ave. W.), Weston, on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5440 Durie Rd., Streetsville on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.
