We celebrate the life of husband and dad,
Lennox Raphael Pacheco who passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 5, 2025 at the age of 89. Lennox was born on July 8, 1935 to Zacchariah Chinaquie (father) and Florence Pacheco (mother) in McBean, Couva, Trinidad and Tobago.
As a young man, he worked at Texaco Trinidad Inc. in Point-a-Pierre as a instrument mechanic, for a number of years. Whether working or at a club, he dressed with style, pressed shirt, handkerchief and tie, clean pressed pants and polished shoes.
In 1961, he met his soon to be wife Phyllis Heerah when she was walking down the road in McBean, Couva with her younger sister to see her grandmother. He was visiting with his uncle when he saw her; and he called out "Hi, Miss Heerah."
He was charming, and in the old days, they couldn't go out so she had to meet him when going shopping. The best part was, they were walking home late one night. Her strict aunt walked down the road to meet her. Phyllis knew she was in trouble. He decided to come inside her home and introduce himself. Lennox introduced Phyllis to his sister, Daphne, at dinner. His sister joked to her brother "Don't go in people's house to warm up their chair." Followed by "When are you getting married?"
The rest is history.
Devoted husband of Phyllis Pacheco of 60 years, proud father of three children: Gregory Pacheco, Sueanne Pacheco, and Delia Pacheco. Cherished Pappy to his grandchildren, Ryan Nelson and Alexandria Nelson. His grandson Ryan remembers "Pappy was always dressed up even if he wasn't going anywhere. Funny looking back, but I think in some way it rubbed off on me. I don't think I'll ever meet someone else in this life with that much pride." And his granddaughter Alexandria shares "getting a lecture on road safety every time I visited. It reminds me to not be a menace to society while driving."
He has been re-united with his sister, Daphne Des Anges (pre-deceased) and survived by his younger brother Hayes Pacheco.
He worked hard, preferring to use his hands to build his home in Trinidad. He knew how to give a joke amongst friends. In 1970, he made the bold move to Canada. His family followed later in 1972. He was an active member of the Trinidadian Association as the treasurer, and the group responsible for starting the Caribana parade. He retired and spent his time gardening, watching cricket, soccer and baseball. A strong proponent for education and relentless in political debates after watching CNN.
Dad, although you were a straight shooter, you got your point across, made sure we took responsibility for our actions; you may not have wanted to be the center of attention yet maintained your integrity. You leave a lasting impact on those who knew and loved you.
Family and friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home 4671 Hwy 7, Woodbridge (just west of Pine Valley Dr.) on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the Ward Funeral Home Chapel of Friday June 13th, 2025 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Beechwood Cemetery.
