Laurent "Larry" Leblanc

We regret to announce the passing of Laurant (Larry) Leblanc, at the age of 88 years young, on Sunday, February 11, at North York General Hospital in Toronto. Larry being blind/deaf/mute was a proud member of the CNIB family for whom he worked for many years until his retirement. He was a strong advocate for rights and betterment of the Blind/Deaf community. Larry was very inquisitive about everything. With the assistance of interveners, he kept current on news around the world. Earlier in his life Larry’s other hobbies included building model planes, woodworking small miniature furniture and puzzles. His greatest achievement was building a model replica of the Avro Arrow plane. Always patient, cheerful and smiling with a warm heart, he enjoyed meeting new people and finding all about them. Born in Kapuskasing he maintained a keen interest in the paper mill operation and how it was doing as many of his immediate family worked at the mill. Friendly, and caring he was fondly remembered as “The Gentle Giant”. Larry was ever grateful for the many Interveners and friends who regularly visited him.

Larry is survived by his sister Dorothy Townson and husband Mark Dixon of Kapuskasing, sister-in- law Ruth Leblanc of Toronto, brother-in-law Kurt Staniek of Moonbeam, nephew Shane Staniek of Vancouver, niece Sheri Lynn of Toronto, nephew Jason Townson of Ottawa, grand-niece Kennedy Leblanc

Larry was predeceased by his parents Edward and Mabelle Leblanc (nee Lacasse), brother David Leblanc, sister Patricia Staniek (nee Leblanc), and brother-in-law Robert Townson
