Kevin James Worrall (September 26, 1959 - April 24, 2026)

Worrall, Kevin James of Weston, Ontario, passed away suddenly in Brampton, Ontario on Friday, April 24, 2026 after a cardiac event. Kevin was born on September 26, 1959 to Albert Edward Worrall and Anne Marie Worrall née Buckman, the second of six children (Craig, Kevin, Terry, Keith, Jimmy, Sue).

His death comes as a shock, as he was a fighter who had battled colorectal cancer, and won the battle. Kevin also had a near death experience in his youth, from a blood infection caused by a broken bone in his foot playing hockey at an outdoor rink. His resilience was legendary, and was perhaps best exhibited when he broke his leg playing hockey in a men’s league, and refused to take a leave of absence from the high school at which he worked, preferring instead to work with a brace and crutches.

Kevin was known for immersing himself in a variety of different hobbies, such as hockey, guitar, exercise and, of course, motorcycling. He was also a talented artist, who as a gift for one of his sons, painted a mural of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, doing it spontaneously off the top of his head.

Kevin enlisted in the Canadian Navy out of grade 12 in 1977. He spent 23 years in the military, and was a veteran of the First Gulf War, and learnt a lot about his passion for connecting with young people when working with Canadian Forces Recruiting and the Royal Canadian Sea Cadets. This spurred on the decision to pursue a career in teaching at the secondary level. He completed his studies at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), and afterwards, spent his entire teaching career at Heart Lake Secondary School in Brampton, Ontario, where he made many connections with students and staff as a friend, teacher, colleague, mentor and coach.

Kevin’s passion for motorcycling, also led to him to begin working with the Canadian Motorcycle Association in 1999. He had been an avid motorcyclist since his teens, and was a big fan of Moto GP, with his favourite racer being Kenny Roberts, inspiring a lifetime support for Yamaha. He became the Chief Instructor of the rider training program at the Canadian Motorcycle Association in Hamilton, Ontario.

On July 19, 1980 at Blessed Sacrament Parish in Toronto, Ontario, Kevin married Joan Mary Campbell Nicol. At the time of his passing, they had been together for 52 years, and they would have been celebrating their 46th anniversary as a married couple.

Kevin is grieved by his wife, Joan, his sons Christopher (wife Nathalie) and Trevor, his dogs (Buddy, Maggie, Jumanji), his family, colleagues, students, and friends.
