Julius Wilhelm Grueneberg

Julius Wilhelm Grueneberg passed away peacefully at home in Toronto with his wife, Karin, by his side. Born in Muenster, Germany, Julius immigrated to Canada in 1956 at the age of 21 to follow his friends in making a better life in the new world. For Julius, life in Toronto was an exciting adventure which he loved and enjoyed fully until he passed, just 18 days before his 91st birthday.

Julius was always a people person, and after he completed his apprenticeship in food wholesale in Germany, he moved onto auto sales in Toronto, where he was a hugely successful car salesman at Volkswagen for 40 years, achieving the award for several years of master cum laude for auto sales in Canada.

He married the love of his life, Karin Gabriel, in 1968 and for many years, Julius and Karin spent their weekends in Muskoka at the farm he purchased in Hekkla. It was here that he was happiest and most at peace. He loved trains, driving a tractor, and drinking a good bottle of scotch and spending time with friends. Julius always loved lots of people around him, fully subscribing to the mantra, "the more the merrier". He spent many memorable times with friends and family, often bidding them goodbye by saying "you're the best".

He will be missed.

Cremation has taken place, however, if desired donations to either YMCA Simcoe/Muskoka or Muskoka Women's Shelters and Services would be appreciated by the family.
