It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Dad and Grandfather at 97 years of age on Thursday May 26th 2011. Lovingly known as “Gampy,” he leaves behind daughters Shannon and Debbi (John Elliot), grandchildren Kerry, Tarra, Tiffany, and Ryan and great granddaughter Tristan. He is pre-deceased by his wife Winnifred, son Barrie and daughter Wendy.
He was very proud of his 38 years of service with the Montreal Police Force and eventually retired as Captain. He also pioneered a public security force in the town of Hampstead, Quebec in 1978.
Gampy was able to enjoy many years as a Florida snowbird and had the unique opportunity to travel to Ireland at 95 to connect with his Irish roots. Gampy had a special place in his heart for playing crib and always loved being surrounded by family and friends. He will be forever remembered.
A Gathering to Celebrate John’s life will be held at The Brampton and Country Club 7700 Kennedy Rd. (S. of Steeles Ave.) Brampton on Sunday May 29th from 1-3 p.m. As expressions of sympathy donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
