John Nicholson

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of John Nicholson on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 after a brief illness. John was born to John and Kathleen Nicholson in Bawtry, England on May 24, 1942.

He will be missed by his wife, Catherine; daughters Pauline (Mark), Yvonne (Paul), and Elizabeth (Derek); and his faithful dog, Nessie He was the loving grandfather of Leanne (Lewis), Ryan, and Alex; proud great-grandfather of Jude; and dear brother to Ken (Cheryl).

John lived in South Ayreshire, Scotland before moving to Canada in 1982, living in Montreal before moving to Brampton, ON. John loved the outdoors, enjoying cycling, horse riding, and off-roading. He enjoyed gardening in his later years, particularly mowing the lawn. Other hobbies included classic cars, model trains, and reading. John was a member of Robert Burns societies in Scotland and Canada and was past president of the Burns Society of Toronto, 1989-1990. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, Brampton.

The family thanks the care teams at Erin Mills Lodge and Sheridan Villa for their care of John in his final years.
As per John’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private memorial will be held at a later date.
